In Middle School students are searching for identity and belonging. A time of discovery and personal formation, middle schoolers explore their interests and abilities, dive into community, and build a foundation for future success—all in an environment that nurtures their spiritual formation as well as academic and social-emotional growth.
Faith-Filled Community
Middle School at SFA has a unique identity rooted in our Catholic faith. Students deepen their relationship with God through daily classroom prayer, weekly adoration, weekly Mass attendance, and a special focus on Saint Francis in October. Our middle schoolers also participate in grade-level service projects, mission day fundraisers, and opportunities to serve alongside their peers at organizations like Meals from the Heartland.
These experiences help students gain a sense of belonging not only within their grade level but also with the entire St. Francis community—one faith, one family.
Equipping Minds
SFA provides a Middle School academic environment that is based on problem solving, hands-on learning, collaboration and creativity. Within the classroom setting, students receive comprehensive instruction in religion, reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies. Our goal is to educate students while helping them grow their faith and develop as critical thinkers.
Programming is developed to provide opportunities for students to practice, discover and discuss who God has created them to be. Students work toward becoming avid decision makers, problem solvers, experimenters, and investigative thinkers.

As students are learning how to navigate this new environment with more independence and responsibility, our teachers and support staff are there for the inevitable ups and downs of Middle School. When social-emotional and spiritual needs are met, students can then be successful in the classroom. Beyond academics, our middle schoolers build meaningful relationships through programs like the kindergarten buddy system in 8th grade, where students model reverent behavior in Mass, demonstrate quiet hallway transitions, and build positive relationships with younger students. These mentorship opportunities teach servant leadership and responsibility.
