Welcome to Elementary School!
St. Francis of Assisi Elementary serves students from preschool through fifth grade. We are passionate about teaching young children to be lifelong students with a love and appreciation of God, life, and learning. Our elementary students experience opportunities for spiritual growth, academic excellence, and faith-filled community building.
Our talented faculty and staff consider it a privilege to walk alongside each student as they grow in their relationship with Christ, discover their God-given gifts and talents, and develop the skills needed to spread His light to others. Religion is integrated into all aspects of our school day, creating a faith-filled, safe, loving, and fun learning environment.
Equipping Minds
Through an engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum, our students are equipped with the critical and creative thinking skills that will help them succeed. Our phonics program is aligned with the science of reading and builds strong phonemic awareness skills. We teach math through the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum and provide hands-on science experiences that promote student-led learning and critical thinking. Students also enjoy specials classes in art, music, physical education, and technology, with STEM activities integrated throughout the year.
Nurturing Hearts
God's Word is the foundation of our curriculum. Students attend weekly Mass and learn prayers, sacraments, and Bible stories from Preschool through fifth grade. Our students participate in meaningful faith experiences including sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in second grade, Saints Wax Museum in fifth grade, and leading school-wide prayer services. We use programs like Prayer Bear in kindergarten to connect school prayers with family prayer at home, creating a bridge between faith and daily life.

We focus on creating Christ-centered individuals who make right choices because that is how we strive to live our lives as Christians. Our buddy program pairs younger students with older mentors—kindergarteners with 8th graders and first graders with 5th graders—to model reverent behavior and develop meaningful relationships across grade levels. Students participate in service projects, lead liturgies, and learn the Corporal Works of Mercy as they grow into servant-hearted leaders.

What are some special activities throughout the year?
Our elementary students enjoy many special experiences including the Biography Fair in second grade, Saints Wax Museum in fifth grade, Biztown economic simulation in fifth grade, Because of Winn-Dixie play in fourth grade, hatching chicks in first grade, and field trips to enhance learning across all grade levels.
How is faith integrated into the school day?
Students attend weekly Mass, pray before starting the day and meals, learn prayers and sacraments, prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in second grade, and participate in school-wide liturgies and prayer services. Religion is woven throughout all subjects and daily activities.
What is the buddy program?
Our buddy program pairs younger students with older mentors to build community and model faith. Kindergarteners are paired with 8th grade buddies who attend Mass with them and participate in special activities throughout the year. First graders are paired with 5th grade buddies who help develop friendships and teach responsibility during prayer times.
Do students participate in service projects?
Yes! Students learn about the Corporal Works of Mercy and participate in age-appropriate service projects. They also have opportunities to lead school Masses and prayer services as they progress through elementary grades.
