Enrollment Eligibility Information: The preschool program will enroll a maximum of 36 three year old children (one morning and one afternoon session, 18 students each) and 48 four year old children (one morning and one afternoon session, 24 students each) with three staff members per class. To be eligible for the three year old program, children must be three years old by September 15 the year enrollment is desired. To be eligible for the four year old program, children must be four years old by September 15 the year enrollment is desired. Children must be completely toilet trained prior to attendance. Special needs children may not be able to be accommodated for enrollment at St. Francis Preschool.
Session Time Information: Classes for the four year olds are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Classes for the three year olds are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Morning sessions are 8:45-11:15 a.m. and afternoon sessions are 12:30-3:00 p.m.
Cost: A non-refundable registration fee of $70.00 per child will be collected upon accepting an enrollment offering. Tuition is $110.00 per month for the three year old program and $130.00 per month for the four year old program. Tuition is due monthly. Families with multiple children enrolled in the program will receive a 25% discount on monthly tuition for their second and/or third, etc. child currently enrolled. St. Francis Preschool will honor the 25% tuition reduction benefit for children of St. Francis parish staff and Des Moines Diocese school staff when applicable.
Admission Criteria Information: Children are admitted according to the Preschool Admission Criteria policy established by the St. Francis of Assisi Board of Education. The policy reads as follows:
It shall be the policy of the St. Francis of Assisi Board of Education that the following enrollment procedure and prioritization schedule be followed for the St. Francis of Assisi Preschool.
A "Request for Enrollment" period shall be conducted each year. Children shall be admitted on the following prioritization schedule:
Currently enrolled students.
Siblings of currently enrolled students who have requested continued enrollment for the upcoming school year.
Children of registered, tithing, active St. Francis parish members.
In the event that the number of requests received at this prioritization level exceeds the number of available
openings remaining, these additional prioritization measures will be used:
80% of openings will be offered according to parish longevity.
20% of openings will be offered by lottery.
Children of registered, tithing, active Sacred Heart parish members.
Other children.
The Preschool Director and the Pastor can make exceptions to this procedure for educational balance of classes.
The Pastor in conjunction with the Preschool Director reserve the right to make exceptions to this admissions criteria.
Enrollment in the St. Francis of Assisi Preschool is not related to enrollment in St. Francis of Assisi School or vice versa. No prioritization shall be given to those enrolled in one program for admittance into the other.
Waiting List Information: A Preschool Waiting List will be formed according to the Preschool Waiting List policy established by the St. Francis of Assisi Board of Education. The policy reads as follows:
It shall be the policy of the St. Francis of Assisi Board of Education that all non-accommodated requests received during the Request for Enrollment period shall be compiled into a waiting list according to:
Children of registered, tithing, active St. Francis parishioners according to parish longevity.
Children of registered, tithing, active Sacred Heart parishioners according to parish longevity.
Other children on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Subsequent changes to established waiting list positions can be made for educational balance of classes by the Pastor in conjunction with the Board of Education.
Once an established waiting list for a given school year is exhausted, openings shall be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
**Important Note** Submitting a completed Request for Enrollment form does not guarantee that enrollment will be available or offered at any given time. Program space is limited and although a waiting list will be established for unfulfilled requests submitted during the Request for Enrollment period, it is recommended that parents also seek enrollment at multiple alternate preschools in the community.
