M.O.M.S. (Ministry of Mothers
Sharing)
An opportunity for women to develop
self-esteem, relationship skills, and a more defined sense of their own
spirituality at a time when they are facing the difficult challenges of raising
a family.
M.O.M.S. is a special ministry for mothers of all ages. If you are looking to have some spiritual time to yourself, meet women of the parish, and bring new strengths to your relationships and your Christian community, then M.O.M.S. will be a rewarding experience for you.
YCAF
(Young Catholic Adults and Friends)
We are a group of St. Francis parishioners in their twenties and early thirties,
single or married, who want to come together to have fun, grow spiritually, and
contribute to the community. Events are held once or twice a month for
spiritual, social, and/or service activities. If you are interested in learning
more about YCAF or would like to volunteer to help with events, please contact
the parish office.
Little
Rock Scripture Study Group
Christ
Renews His Parish (CRHP)
This is a retreat movement that has been active at St. Francis for nearly 10
years. These retreats are rooted in the Sacraments and prayer, and offer
participants the opportunity to explore and share their faith with their fellow
parishioners. There are retreats for both men and women in the fall and spring
of each year.
The next weekends at St. Francis will be September 22 & 23, 2007 for the men and September 29 & 30, 2007 for the women. The weekends begin at 8:00 am on Saturday morning and end at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
Contact the parish office for more information.
Inquiry Classes (for those interested in finding out more about the Church) begin on Thursday, September 6, 2007, 7 – 9:00 PM, in the Large MeetingRoom (look for signs in the gathering space to direct you to this room). Most classes will meet during this time frame, but a few meet at different times. During this time of Inquiry, attendees are especially encouraged to ask questions about the Church and its teachings. In December, persons who choose to continue in this process, participate in the Rite of Acceptance (or Welcoming). After this Rite, we will also meet most weekends for one of the Masses, and candidates* & catechumens* and a catechist* will be dismissed from Mass after the homily (sermon), at which time they will study & reflect on the Scripture readings.
For those who continue on this journey of faith, Baptism (for those not previously baptized in other Christian traditions), Welcoming into the Catholic Church, Confirmation, and First Reception of the Eucharist, will be celebrated at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, March 22, 2008.
Classes continue after Easter in order to give the new members a sense of what we do as Catholics, and the activities and ministries are available to them at St. Francis Parish. A closing family picnic celebration will be held on May 15, 2008, the Thursday after Pentecost.
PARISH COMMUNITY Bringing new members into our Church is the responsibility of the entire parish. Parish members encourage and welcome prospective members in many ways. Some of the ways people can get involved are:
Sponsors serve as companions to the Inquirers. The Sponsor should be a person of faith who is open to spiritual growth, and willing to travel with another on their faith journey. Sponsors are not expected to know everything about the Catholic Church. Sponsors attend a special meeting on September 25, and then join us on Thursday evenings, beginning during the month of October.
Hospitality People in the community are needed to provide snacks for the Thursday evening classes (things like donuts, bagels, cookies, bars, fruit, etc.). You will be called upon one or two times during the year.
………………………………………………………………..
* Some terms defined
Catechumen: One who is not baptized and is preparing for full initiation at the Easter Vigil through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

Catechist: One who teaches about the Scriptures and the tradition of the Catholic Church.
Faith Events
These events provide an opportunity for growing in faith in an intergenerational
setting. These events include a meal, and an opportunity to get to know your
fellow parishioners. Events will be advertised in the bulletin and website.
Please check out the "Question of the Week" in the weekly bulletin.
Always keep an eye on the bulletin and parish website
